Introduction

Our government has a complex structure. But at its core is a very simple concept: separation of powers. Our President, our Congress, and our Supreme Court operate within separate parts of one government.

This online project will lead you through each of the three branches - the executive, legislative, and judicial - and describe how they work separately and together. You will learn what each branch does in relation to the others as they create policies and make decisions that drive our country.

Once you click the “GO” flag button, you will be directed to pages for each of the three branches and one that ties them all together. Print off the form and take notes as you go, as this may be helpful at the end where you’ll be tested on what you learned. Good luck and have fun!
