An Interactive Lesson on Innovation

 

Step One:

Define “Innovation” using your computer’s Dictionary (found in Applications).

  1. What does it mean in your own words?

  2. What are three or four synonyms?

  3. What is one antonym?

Type your answers in your Pages document (keep open throughout the period)

Visit Time.com by clicking the image above (a snapshot taken from the site). Before you go:

  1. Identify some of the “coolest” inventions

  2. View the newest inventions in several categories (i.e. “Cars and Buses”, “Robots”, “Computers”, etc)

  3. Consider what you could “create” for your group project

Answer the following questions in your Pages Document about some of the things on this web site (be sure to save this in your Documents folder):

  1. What was the Invention of the Year? What does Time say is so great about it?

  2. What does “The $1000 Football Helmet” do?

  3. In the “Computers” section, what product might I like if I want to do away with my cell phone’s charger? What does this product do?

  4. What is the #5 Gadget of the Year and why is it cool?

  5. What might farmers be buying in the next 20 years?

Print your pages document (make sure your name, date, subject, and hour appear in the upper right-hand corner). Place this is a neat stack next to the printer for collection.

Step Four:

Open a blank Pages document.

  1. Title this document: “Sparking Your Creativity - Your Name” .

  2. Save this in your “Econ Project” folder in your History folder.

  3. Keep this open throughout the hour as steps you will write responses to steps 2-4 here.
