In order to be a successful social studies student, and therefore a successful and productive citizen, it is important to have the skills necessary to participate in class and in society.

In order to do this you will complete five social studies skills assignments per marking period, or quarter (hence, “quarterly assignment”). We will spend a couple of days per marking period in the lab for you to be able to do this, but you may also do them from home on your own computer as well.

Follow the steps below for how to complete this assignment:

  1. 1.Acquire five “Web Assignment Forms” by clicking the link and printing or from Mr. Bruce.

  2. 2.Click on the “Online Skills Tutor” link and click “go”

  3. 3.Choose any of the twenty skills builders (you must complete a different five every marking period to ensure you have done all twenty by the end of the year - I suggest starting at the top and working your way down).  Complete the entire skill builder lesson by doing the “learn”, “Practice”, and “Apply” for both levels.

  4. 4.When finished with one, fill out the “web assignment form” before continuing to the next skills builder.

  5. 5.Complete all five of the selected skills builders before submitting your forms to Mr. Bruce. Mr. Bruce will not grade them one at a time as you finish them. Staple all five together and submit them before the marking period ends for credit.

If you have any questions regarding this assignment, ask a classmate before asking Mr. Bruce.

Note: There is audio for these so bring earbuds or headphones to use when in the lab!
